| Tom Hanks might be a good actor, and he's probably a nice guy, but those aren't good enough reasons for this editor's note to be solely about him. I'll admit, my first few drafts were essentially meditations on how potentially amazing it would be to have a beer and a few pretzels with him. Look, Cast Away was an underrated movie. Period. Does that have anything to do with this first issue of Wobbling Roof Magazine? No. However, my college anthropology professor had no right saying what he said about that film. And if I ever did get the chance to hang out with Tom Hanks, I would't even bring up that jerk and his elitist opinions. Having a beer with Tom Hanks is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity for a guy like me, and I wouldn't waste it talking about someone who clearly has something against Robert Zemeckis flicks and probably never even saw Cast Away in the first place. So, my point is, why sit around thinking about having a beer with Tom Hanks (which is something that will probably never even happen anyway), when the more important matter at hand is this first issue of Wobbling Roof? I think it's really great and contains a few artists who likely have never have had a beer with Tom Hanks, but I bet they've shared a drink or two with some very important people in their own right. |
